- Carbon-carbon composites are basic materials for high temperatures applications (1400 ˚C -3000 ˚C) such as: re-entry shields, launching sub-systems, modern brake systems for aircraft
- C-C composites consist mainly of a reinforcing structure made of carbon fiber (unidirectional, fabric, chopped fibers or carbon felt) and a matrix, which through an adequate thermal treatment turn into carbon
- The impregnation materials are: phenolic resins or petroleum pitch (mesophase)

- The technology consists of the following: the matrix- fiber mixture is carbonized and then re impregnated 3- 4 times with pitch or different resins for the increase of strength and density
